If You Think Damien Hirst's Work Is Trash, You're Right.
The New Damien Hirst Limited Edition Dotted Vipp Bin.

The internationally renowned artist Damien Hirst has created a limited edition of the Vipp bin exclusively for Astrup Fearnley Museet.

When Danish craftsman Holger Nielsen created the pedal bin in 1939, it was only intended for his wife’s hairdressing salon. Since then, the small waste bin has been on quite a journey and is now entering the colorful world of the internationally renowned artist Damien Hirst. An exclusive and limited collection will be presented at the opening of Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo, Norway on the 29th of September.

Damien Hirst: On the Spot:

Damien Hirst forged his place on the British art scene as a remarkable emerging artist in the late 1980s. When he in 1995 won the Turner Prize, his talent was further recognized, and his stamp firmly embossed on the global contemporary art map. He has now achieved superstar status in the contemporary art world.

The Vipp bin has been redesigned by Damien Hirst with inspiration from his world famous colorful spot design Chloramphenicol Acetyltransferase (shown below).

This is one of Damien Hirst’s most recognized art works and it has been designed in many variations since 1987.

“I ’ve always loved colour, playing with colour, moving colours around. Designing a Vipp bin using spots makes the Vipp bin joyful“ – Damien Hirst.

JENNIFER GRAYLOCK: Art, Celebrity, Fashion Photographer and Creator of FaceChairs.com.

Renowned fashion and celebrity photographer Jennifer Graylock has had her work featured in most well known fashion and entertainment magazines; and shot campaigns for Fortune 500 companies. And now, the highly sought-after photographer is now combining her fashion, celebrity and fine arts background to create the first installment of her Face Chairs Art Series Collection. These iconic chairs are Graylock’s humorous intent to give fans, and non-fans alike, a chance to have their very own celebrity moment.

The “Face Chairs” Art Series Collection will features Jennifer Graylock’s most acclaimed celebrity and fashion icon photo picks. Each chair is then paired with a mid century-inspired bentwood chair, carefully restored, and emblazoned with exclusive photos from Graylock’s topical collection.

“In creating this limited edition, signed, art statements, I select and carefully restore visually interesting vintage and modern designer chairs in a variety of shapes and pair them with celebrity images from my collection shot at pivotal moments in each figure's life,” said Graylock.

“Face Chairs” is a true expression of Graylock’s art that combines her world-class photography and love of furniture design and restoration. Her roots in furniture design extend back to helping her grandfather restore and craft furniture when she was a young child. The collection takes a creative laugh with each celebrity to become part of his or her fans home.

Graylock unveiled her first iconic pieces at RAPT art&design in Naples, Florida, where she featured Oscar winner Angelina Jolie’s now notorious “leg pose” and Oscar nominee George Clooney immediately after learning of his Oscar nomination, creating international buzz from fans and non-fans alike as well as the celebrities she’s captured.

See A Penny, Pick It Up. Or Paint It, If You're Jacqueline Lou Skaggs.

13 pennies are used as miniature canvases for oil paintings titled "Tondi Observations" by Indiana artist Jacqueline Lou Skaggs.

In the artist's own words:
"This small body of twelve works consist of images painted on found, discarded pennies. These pictures pay homage to, not only, the binding ideologies that define our family, religious, social and political worlds- but also to the resonating mythological powers of traditional painting and miniature picture making- much like the Dutch oils on copper from the 17th century. Paid tribute no less on the face of discarded coins these iconic images transcend the coins value while, to some extent, defacing it.

"Abe's Millennium" is a portrait from a found thrift-store photograph (regrettably sold at a yard sale). The title comes from my knowing that we still have a long way to go.

"Kisses and Ghosts" is from a portrait of my mother as a child standing next to a bird bath with her brother. I once read a report in which children were asked what they feared most. The two most popular answers were "kisses" and "ghosts".

"Four Witches Stand" is a line in the Pledge of Allegiance.

"The Unburning Bush" is a bush that never burned.

"The Field of Sleeping Peasants" is waiting for Picasso.

"The Baptistery" honors the rain Gods for suburban birds.

"Through carelessness..." is a random line chosen with my eyes closed from the Chinese book of chance, I-Ching.

"A Pile of Burnt Wood" is just that, in the approaching evening light. "A Still Life" is too still... and so on.

Initially these coins were going to be spent- nestled with other coins in an exchange of goods. Or tossed back to the sidewalks from whence they came. Nice thoughts. However, these works remain hoarded as art rather than currency or discarded, valueless copper."
